This might seem like an odd topic coming from a Double Board Certified Facial Plastic Surgeon, but, it’s true! We are living in a time where beauty standards dictate much of our lives, so it’s imperative to challenge the belief that we should recreate or modify ourselves to mold to current “beauty standards.” I specialize in redefining the aging process by providing a more youthful appearance with completely natural results to improve your self-love and self-confidence and let your inner beauty shine! True beauty is a state of mind, influenced by our perceptions, experiences, and self-awareness; it goes way beyond the superficial.

Society’s Shortcomings

From perfectly styled magazine covers to curated social media content, our society is inundated with images of “perfection.” The pressure to achieve these airbrushed, photoshopped standards can be overwhelming, leading to feelings of inadequacy or self-consciousness, when, in reality, they’re completely unattainable!

Society’s flawed definition of beauty is superficially based on body measurements, flawless skin, and symmetrical features. This view fails to realize where true beauty comes from. The Merriam-Webster Dictionary describes beauty as this: “The quality or group of qualities in a person or thing that gives pleasure to the senses or the mind.” True beauty emanates from within. It encompasses pleasing qualities such as authenticity, kindness, compassion, confidence, and more. It’s about time we prioritize our true beauty.

True Beauty

Beauty starts with self-acceptance and self-love. Prioritizing self-care and personal growth allows us to feel like our best selves which, in turn, radiates an inner beauty that surpasses physical appearance. Cultivating inner beauty is about being kind to ourselves and investing time into activities that promote self-confidence and self-worth. That’s why I do what I do! I’m not here to completely transform your appearance. We want to enhance your natural physical beauty so your self-confidence blossoms and your inner beauty radiates from within. Breaking free from the false societal beauty norms is no easy feat. It involves reframing your mindset. Here are a couple of ways to shift your perspective and allow your true beauty to shine: eliminate negative self-talk, embrace self-compassion, and keep uplifting, empowering people in our corner.

It’s easy to lose sight of where true beauty comes from in a world obsessed with physical appearances. Breaking free from societal standards and embracing our authentic selves allows us to uncover true beauty that transcends the superficial. Beauty is a reflection of who we are and how we feel about ourselves and others. In the words of Ellen DeGeneres, a powerhouse in today’s society, “…beauty is about being comfortable in your own skin. It’s about knowing and accepting who you are.”
