What is Sculptra®?

Sculptra® is a facial filler that contains poly-l-lactic acid (PLLA). PLLA is a collagen stimulator that has been shown to produce significant improvements in the body’s own collagen production. For many patients, the root cause of signs of aging is the natural loss in collagen that occurs throughout the aging process. The Sculptra® injectable is designed to stimulate natural collagen production to reverse these signs of aging and produce a more youthful appearance. When the Sculptra® formula is injected into the skin, it triggers natural collagen production that gradually improves volume and skin texture over the following weeks and months.

Sculptra® is ideal for delivering the following benefits:

  • Increasing natural collagen production
  • Restoring facial volume
  • Smoothing out lines and wrinkles
  • Achieving long-lasting, natural-looking results

What Makes Sculptra® a Semi-Permanent Facial Filler?

Sculptra® is considered to be a semi-permanent facial filler because of how it stimulates collagen production after treatment. Many dermal fillers use a hyaluronic acid formula, which is typically absorbed by the body within 18 months of treatment. Sculptra®, on the other hand, offers a PLLA formula that stimulates collagen production for several months after your initial treatment. This produces gradual and long-lasting results, producing visible improvements in the skin for 2 to 4 years after your Sculptra® treatment.

What Should I Do Before a Sculptra® Treatment?

Sculptra® requires little preparation, but we do recommend refraining from alcohol, advil, aleve, ibuprofen, waxing, hair removal creams, and Vitamin E oil for 72 hours before treatment. This helps to minimize bruising, bleeding, and discomfort. Additionally, we recommend scheduling a consultation with Dr. Rich Castellano of ImageLift® to ensure that Sculptra® a good fit for you.

What is the Sculptra® Treatment Like?

Your Sculptra® treatment will begin with the application of a topical anesthetic, which numbs the skin to minimize any discomfort that may occur during the injection process. Then, our master injectors will use a fine needle to inject Sculptra® into the desired treatment areas. The depth, location and number of these injections will depend on the areas being treated and your desired results. The Sculptra® treatment typically takes less than 30 minutes, making it a quick and convenient treatment for anyone with a busy schedule.

Does Sculptra® Hurt?

Sculptra® treatments are not considered painful, as we offer a topical anesthetic to numb the treatment area before injection. However, you may still feel a pinch during the injection process. Additionally, you may experience some mild swelling or bruising in the treatment area that lasts for a few days after treatment. All things considered, most patients find Sculptra® treatments to be quite tolerable.

What Happens After Sculptra® Treatment?

Sculptra® requires no downtime or recovery period, so you’ll be able to resume normal activities immediately after your visit. We’ll provide you with instructions to manage and minimize any side effects while also ensuring optimal treatment results. After your initial treatment, we’ll schedule a follow-up visit to evaluate your results.
