What is the Baby CO2 Treatment?

The Baby CO2 treatment is a gentle laser treatment that uses the CO2 laser at a lower setting. The CO2 laser is considered the gold standard in laser resurfacing because of the dramatic skin rejuvenation benefits that it offers. However, traditional CO2 laser treatments can require several weeks of downtime, which some patients may want to avoid. With the Baby CO2 treatment, patients can still enjoy improvements in complexion, lines, and wrinkles with almost no downtime. The treatment can be used for areas that include:

  • Decolletage

Is the Baby CO2 Treatment Right for Me?

While the Baby CO2 treatment is quite gentle in comparison to other laser treatments, it may not be suitable for all skin types. Currently, we only recommend this treatment for Fitzpatrick skin types I through III. Otherwise, the Baby CO2 treatment still offers similar benefits to the CO2 laser treatment, but with less downtime. This generally makes it a good option for patients who are seeking to improve complexion, fine lines, and wrinkles without extensive periods of downtime. What is the Baby CO2 Laser Treatment Like?

To begin your Baby CO2 treatment, we’ll cleanse the treatment area and provide you with protective goggles. The treatment is quite gentle, so no anesthetics are necessary. You may feel sensations of warmth or prickling in the skin as the laser is administered to the treatment area, but it is not painful. A single treatment session may take as little as 20 minutes depending on the size of the treatment area.

Is There Any Downtime After Baby CO2 Laser Treatment?

There is almost no downtime required after Baby CO2 treatments, and any significant side effects are rare. Typically, patients can expect 2-5 days of redness in the skin, similar to a bad sunburn. You may want to take some off of social activities while the skin’s appearance returns to normal. While the skin heals, we recommend wearing sunscreen and avoiding excessive exposure to sunlight, as well as avoiding any activities or skin care products that may further irritate the skin. We’ll also provide you with specific post-treatment instructions that include the use of various skincare products and routines to facilitate the healing process.

What Kind of Results Can I Expect from the Baby CO2 Laser Treatment?

The results from your Baby CO2 will become visible gradually, as the skin slowly remodels itself in the weeks following treatment. While you may notice results in as little as one treatment, we may recommend a series of 2-3 treatments depending on your skin type and your cosmetic goals. Improvements in skin complexion typically occur in fewer treatments, while reducing wrinkles and lines may require more treatments for best results.
